The Madison College baseball team and
Brent Kakwitch didn't forget their bats in Madison when they traveled to Petrakis Park in Dubuque, IA to take on Kirkwood Community College on April 14. The WolfPack had 20 hits and
Kakwitch hit three home runs in his first three at bats during their nine-inning game against the Eagles.
The WolfPack (20-4) won the slug fest 21-14 and batted .426 in the game. In addition to
Kakwitch's performance,
Kendall Frank came up big for Madison College. He went 4-for-6 from the plate including a double and a triple.
The game had the signs of a high-scoring game early with each team putting up three runs in the first tinning. The WolfPack scored in seven of the nine innings and they never stopped swinging the bats, as they put up nine runs in the final two innings.
The Eagles were hitting the ball almost as well as the WolfPack, 16-for-43, and only trailed 12-8 entering the top of the eighth inning. It was important for the WolfPack to continue to put up runs because the Eagles scored six runs in the game's final two innings.
Michael Huckabay lasted six innings and got his first win of the season (1-0). He gave up five earned runs and seven hits while striking out six batters.
