The Madison College softball team played their first home game of the year 15 games into the season. The WolfPack were looking to snap a seven-game slide at home against Joliet Junior College.
Despite scoring some runs early in the game, the WolfPack came up short in the first game, falling 6-4 to the Lady Wolves.
Mary Hershberger pitched seven good innings, giving up just three earned runs while striking out one batter.
Madison College jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after the first inning and were tied 4-4 through three innings of play.
Heather Hornback and
Thresia Elskamp each went 2-for-4 from the plate.
Elskamp had a triple and
Hornback had a double to support the WolfPack's offensive charge. The WolfPack finished the game with eight hits.
The WolfPack offense stalled after the third inning as the Lady Wolves held them scoreless for the game's final four innings.
The Wolves took their late momentum from the first game into the second game and beat the WolfPack 8-2.
Jami Ryan took the mound for the WolfPack and while she struck out five batters, she also gave up 15 hits to the Lady Wolves.
Kendra Mussehl led the way offensively for the WolfPack, going 1-for-3 from the plate and hitting a double.
Next up for the WolfPack is Harper College on April 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Softball Complex at Madison's Truax campus.
