WolfPack Softball Team Splits Season Opener

The WolfPack softball team lost the first of two games, and rebounded to win the second.

The Madison College Softball team split a pair of games in their season opener against Waubonsee Community College. The Chiefs took the first game and the WolfPack rebounded against the Chiefs' ace in the second game.

Waubonsee jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after two innings in the first game and never looked back in Sugar Grove, IL. The WolfPack offense struggled against Kelsey Miller, who pitched five innings and only gave up four hits while striking out three.

The WolfPack bats came alive in the second game against the Chiefs. Jenna Brown drove in three runs on 2-for-4 hitting, including a deep triple that just stayed in the park. Thresia Elskamp pitched in with a triple and a double of her own. The WolfPack rang up 14 hits in the 8-4 victory.

Mary Hershberger made her Madison College debut as a pitcher and went all six innings. She gave up just four hits and one earned run and struck out one.
