The Madison College men's basketball team earned the #3 seed in the the 2010 NJCAA Region IV Men's Basketball Division III Tournament.
The WolfPack men will play the #6 seed, Harper College, on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 5:00 PM in Joliet, IL. The winner of the game plays Milwaukee Area Technical College on Thursday, February 25 at 5:00 PM in Joliet, IL.
Madison College split the season series (1-1) against Harper College, with each team winning on the opposing team's floor. The WolfPack won the first matchup 82-77 on Jan. 23 in Palatine, IL. The WolfPack trailed 48-33 at halftime, but outscored the Hawks by 20 in the second half for the win. Kort Frank (DeForest, WI, DeForest ) and Courtney Brown (Milwaukee, WI, Green Bay East ) had big games off the bench scoring 21 and 15 respectively.
The rematch in Madison featured a comeback effort from the WolfPack, but they came up short, losing 66-59. They trailed by as many as 11 in the first half and had trouble stopping Brandon Bolger who scored a game-high 21 points for the Hawks. Drew Mandli (Egan, MN, Eagan ) led the WolfPack in scoring with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. Bobby Komorowski (Germantown, WI, Germantown ) posted his sixth double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) of the season in the loss and Sam Wilkinson (Mazomanie, WI, Wisconsin Heights ) pitched in with 13 points in the losing effort.
The winner of the Region IV tournament will go on to play in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Delhi, NY on March 11-13. The path to win the Region IV tournament will not be easy as tournament host and #1 seed Joliet Junior College (25-5, 11-3 N4C) sits on the opposite side of the bracket from the WolfPack. Joliet is the #6 ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.
