Madison College Wolfpack

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's soccer team rebounded from their first loss of the season by scoring nine goals for the second time in three matches as they defeated Oakton College 9-1 on Saturday in a Region 4 match at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. Sophomore Amalia Molgard was one of two players to score multiple goals in the match as she became just the ninth player in program history to tally four goals in a single match. The win improves the WolfPack to 3-0 all-time against the Owls.

Madison College got the scoring started with an early barrage as they took a 3-0 lead in the game's first six minutes. As the first minute of play was nearing an end, sophomore Zoey Lovejoy came up with a steal deep in Oakton territory and then played it ahead into the penalty area, where freshman Roos Zwolschen beat two defenders to the ball and blasted a low shot just inside the left post for the game's first goal. It was the third scoring strike this season for the native of IJsselmuiden, Netherlands.

In the game's 3', freshman Aubrey Reesman sent a pass from the left sideline towards the goalie box, where it bounced between an Oakton and Madison player, eventually finding its way to the waiting feet of Maddie Ludwig. The first year forward from Washburn, Wisconsin, controlled it and kicked another low ball past the diving goalkeeper to make it 2-0. For Ludwig, it was her second career goal, while Reesman earned her first collegiate assist.

The third goal was the result of a header off a corner kick as freshman midfielder Fay den Hoed headed in the corner kick from Ludwig in the 5'. The goal is den Hoed's third this season. 

The possiblity of a shutout was ended in the 8' when Oakton College got on the board with an unassisted goal past starting goalkeeper Arabella Penfold. 

Molgard, a second year transfer from St. Clair County Community College, was in the spotlight for much of the rest of the match. The midfielder/forward from Denmark scored on a rebound after a shot on goal by Zwolschen was denied in the 19' to send the game to halftime with the WolfPack up 4-1. In the second half, Molgard scored goals in the 49' and twice in the 50' to post a career-best four goals. Her second goal was assisted by Chloe Adalin and the fourth by den Hoed, while the third goal came by accident as she simply kicked the ball out of a crowd at the top of the penalty area and it sailed over the head of the 'keeper and into the net.

Sophomore Maddie Marquette got into the scoring action in the 62' with the WolfPack's second header off a corner kick, this time with the defender/midfielder from Janesville, Wisconsin, knocking in the corner kick from freshman Makenzie Roman. It is the first-career goal for Marquette.

The game ended via mercy rule in the 79' when den Hoed blasted in a free kick from just outside the penalty arc for her first multi-goal game. 

Madison College owned a 28-5 advantage in total shots as they dominated possession, resulting in a 19-2 differential in shots on goal. Molgard was tops with ten total shots and seven shots on goal. Freshman Markiya Uherka played the second half in goal and made the team's only save.
