MADISON, WISC. - The back line and goalkeeping for the Madison College women's soccer team has become a nearly impenetrable force as the team recorded its fourth straight shutout on Sunday with a 5-0 win in a Region 4 contest against the College of Lake County at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch - East. Freshman
Makenzie Roman earned the clean sheet and extended the scoreless minutes streak for the WolfPack's goalkeepers to 422 straight going back to an early goal by Oakton College in a 9-1 win on September 5. The win extends the Pack's lead in the all-time series with the Lancers to 5-0-1.
Madison College's leading scorer added to her season total and put the WolfPack out in front with a pair of goals in the opening 15 minutes with a pair of successful penalty kicks.
Amalia Molgard, a midfielder/forward from Brondby, Denmark, converted the first PK with a laser inside the right post after freshman
Maddie Ludwig drew a foul in the penalty box following a throw-in in the 4'. Ludwig again did the heavy lifting in the 14', coming up with a steal near midfield and then pushing the ball upfield before being pushed down from behind as she entered the penalty area. Molgard again beat the College of Lake County (4-3-1) goalkeeper to her left side for a 2-0 lead and team-leading ten goals this season. She now boasts three games with two or more goals in 2026.
Later in the first half, the WolfPack took a 3-0 advantage thanks to some great teamwork. When freshman
Aubrey Reesman played a ball back to fellow first year
Allison Smiley near midfield, Smiley immediately sent a long pass ahead to
Roos Zwolschen. The freshman midfielder/forward from the Netherlands was able to chase down the pass on the fly, control the ball with her right foot, and send a successful scoring strike off the right post and into the net. The goal is the sixth this season for Zwolschen, while Smiley recorded her first collegiate point with the assist.
Reesman, a native of Burlington, Wisconsin, added to her goal and points total in the second half, netting back-to-back goals in less than a minute as the WolfPack assumed their final 5-0 lead. The first scoring strike came after freshman
Emlyn Knutson threaded a pass through three defenders to find Reesman, whose kick from her right boot ricocheted off the goalkeepers hands and into the net. Roughly 30 seconds later, Knutson tracked down a loose ball on the defensive side of midfield, and quickly booted a pass up ahead for Reesman to race down. The forward did just that, and then facing a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, sent a shot past the GK on a tight angle from right of the goal box. The pair of goals gives Reesman four on the year, with a pair of multi-goal performances.
Madison College limited the Lancers to two total shots, creating sizable differentials in shots (18-2) and shots on goal (12-2). Roman, a native of Monona, Wisconsin, earned the clean sheet with two saves and no goals allowed.
Offensively, Zwolschen was tops with five total shots, and matched Ludwig with three shots on goal.
Against Region 4 competition so far this season, the WolfPack is 5-0-1 and has outscored their opponents 37-1.
