Madison College Wolfpack

RIVER GROVE, ILL. - The Madison College women's soccer team was back on the pitch for the first time in 11 days Wednesday, and earned a 0-0 draw in a Region 4 clash with Triton College. Freshman goalkeepers Arabella Penfold and Makenzie Roman combined to earn the clean sheet as the WolfPack defense limited the Trojans to a single shot on goal. Madison College still owns an 11-2-3 lead in the all-time series.

Madison College applied some offensive pressure early as sophomore Kylie Hellenbrand was denied on a 7' shot. Less than three minutes later, first year forward Maddie Ludwig put a shot off the crossbar. The Triton College goalkeeper turned away another shot in the 34' by sophomore Emlyn Knutson, who was playing in her first game back after suffering a season-ending injury on September 10 of last season. Ludwig came up empty again with a save by the 'keeper in the 42' as the game moved to halftime with no score.

Six minutes into the second half, the WolfPack turned to Knutson in a penalty kick situation; however, the forward from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, missed off the crossbar. Despite a red card to both teams in the 59', and sent the Madison College goalkeeper to the locker room, the visitors continued to be the aggressor. Sophomore Maddie Marquette was turned away on a shot in the 61', as was second year midfielder/forward Amalia Molgard in the 66' and 86'. 

The lone shot on goal for the Trojans came in the 32' and was saved by Penfold, giving the Pack its third shutout - and second straight - of the season. Madison College finished with a 13-3 advantage in total shots and a 6-1 differential in shots on goal, as well a 5-1 lead in corner kicks. Molgard, a transfer from St. Clair County Community College, led the team with two shots on goal, while Ludwig, a Washburn, Wisconsin, native, and Knutson matched Molgard with three total shots.

Madison College (4-1-1) is back home for a pair of Region 4 matches over the weekend, starting Saturday, September 26 against Kankakee Community College (4-3-2). The WolfPack is 3-0-1 all-time against the Cavaliers. Kickoff at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch - East is set for approximately noon and can be streamed live at MadisonCollege.tv. The game is also Student Parent Family Day.

Madison College will also host the College of Lake County (4-2-1) on Sunday, September 27. The WolfPack is 4-0-1 in head-to-head matchups with the Lancers. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch - East and can be streamed live at MadisonCollege.tv.
