MASON CITY, IOWA - The Madison College women's volleyball team got the 2026 season started on Friday and Saturday, and split four matches at the NIACC Tournament. The WolfPack, ranked #12 in the NJCAA Division II Preseason Poll, picked up a pair of wins on Friday with a 3-0 sweep of host North Iowa Area Community College and a 3-2 win over Western Iowa Tech Community College. Saturday's slate resulted in a 3-2 loss to North Dakota State College of Science and a 3-1 setback to NAIA Dordt University JV. 

Match #1: #12 Madison College 3, North Iowa Area Community College 0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21)

Madison College's first match of the season marked the tenth all-time meeting with the Trojans, and the WolfPack's three-set victory gave them a 6-4 lead in head-to-head matchups. A quick four-point run early in the opening set created some separation, which the Pack slowly turned into a six-point set win. Trailing 3-0 to start the second set, Madison College quickly pulled even, and later engineered an 8-1 surge to take control. Another four-point swing midway through the third set again provided the differential for the win.

The WolfPack finished with 38 kills and a .300 attack efficiency, to go along with five aces, 44 digs, and four blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Ella Vosberg led the charge with 11 kills and a .360 hitting percentage. Fellow second year Makayla Dallas and freshman Braelee Kiepert each registered eight kills. 

Returning NJCAA All-American setter Allie Andrews tallied 36 assists, to go along with four kills, two aces, seven digs, and a block assist.

Defensively, sophomore Sam Schultz, an All-Region 4 selection from last year, amassed 16 digs, two aces, and two assists.

Match #2: #12 Madison College 3, Western Iowa Tech Community College 2 (25-17, 13-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11)

The WolfPack and Comets went back-and-forth in the season's first five set match. Leading 11-10 in the first set, Madison College went on a 9-2 surge to take an eight point victory; however, Western Iowa Tech answered with a quick 5-1 start in the second set and cruised to the win. In the third set, it was the Pack out in front 5-1 and eventually owning a seven-point advantage at 18-11 to regain control of the match. Trying to close out the match in four sets, Madison College was up 16-14 before WITCC won 11 of the last 16 points to force the fifth set, which saw the WolfPack take a quick 4-0 lead and keep the Comets at bay for the match win.

Madison College finished the match with 44 kills and an impressive 16 aces, as well as 4.0 blocks and 78 digs. 

The duo of Ella Vosberg and Baelee Kiepert were tops with 13 and 11 kills, respectively, marking the first double-digit kills match in the career of the latter, an outside hitter from Appleton, Wisconsin. Right side hitter Makayla Dallas was right behind with seven kills. Vosberg also helped spearhead the team's service game with a career-high five aces

Allie Andrews, a native of Darlington, Wisconsin, racked up 38 assists as part of a double-double with 13 digs. Libero Sam Schultz set a new career-best with 32 digs, while also posting five assists and five aces to match Vosberg.

The match was the first all-time meeting between the two programs.

Match #3: North Dakota State College of Science 3, #12 Madison College 2 (25-17, 13-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11)

Saturday's first match saw the WolfPack lose the services of sophomore middle blocker Caylee Coggins early in the action due to injury. Madison College battled through to take advantage of a fast 6-0 start win the set by nine. The Wildcats rallied in the second, overcoming an 18-13 deficit and three set points for the Pack to win in extra points. Set three saw the WolfPack storm out to a 20-10 differential before holding on late for a narrow two-point win as NDSCS strung together a 13-4 stretch to make it close. Following another tightly contested fourth set, the Pack found themselves in their second five-set match in as many days, but with the score even at 8-8, NDSCS rattled off a six straight points en route to the win. 

Sophomores Ella Vosberg and Makayla Dallas earned identical double-doubles, the first of the season for either player. The natives of Cuba City, Wisconsin, and Valders, Wisconsin, respectively, were tops with 11 kills and ten digs. Second year Sam Schultz returned to a hitting role for the first time in 2026 and posted nine kills. 

Setter Allie Andrews reached a season-high with 45 assists and 17 digs for her second consecutive - and 14th career - double-double. 

Defensively, five players reached double-figures in digs, led by freshman Jaydon Golsteyn with 22. The New Berlin, Wisconsin, native, was also tied with first year libero Amara Jahner with three aces. Schultz had 17 digs.

Madison College set a season-best for kills with 52 and digs with 86. They hit at a .146 clip and generated double-digit kills in three different sets, including 17 in the four set. The Pack also added 11 aces and four blocks.

In six all-time matches, NDSCS owns a 5-1 lead over the WolfPack.

Match #4: Dordt University JV 3, #12 Madison College 1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16)

The finale of the weekend against Dordt University JV saw each team pull away late to earn a win in the first two sets, and the Defenders do it again in the third set. In the fourth set, an early 6-0 run by Dordt led to a match-clinching set win.

The WolfPack produced 45 kills and finished with a .118 attack percentage. They also had seven aces, four blocks, and 78 digs.

Ella Vosberg terminated 13 kills at a .256 clip to lead the offense, and added ten for her second straight double-double. Setter Allie Andrews was right behind with nine kills, Makayla Dallas added eight, and freshman Cassie Kotlowski owned a career-best seven kills. 

Andrews added 37 assists, with Jaydon Golsteyn owning six assists and a team-best three aces. 

Defensively, Dallas chased down a career-best 22 digs, followed by 20 for Sam Schultz, 14 by Golsteyn, and 

The match was the first all-time meeting between the two programs.

Madison College (2-2) will host Joliet Junior College (1-2) for the home and Region 4 opener on Wednesday, September 2. The WolfPack is 28-4 all-time against the Wolves. First serve is at 6:00 p.m. inside H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium and can be streamed live at MadisonCollege.tv.

The match will also be Teacher/Staff Appreciation Night.
