MALTA, ILL. - Saturday's first Region 4 match of the season was over not long after it began as the Madison College women's soccer team blitzed Kishwaukee College in a 9-0 final, matching the program record for goals in a game for the eighth time since 2014. Freshmen
Aubrey Reesman and
Roos Zwolschen, as well as sophomore Amalia Mølgård, each scored two goals and goalkeeper
Markiya Uherka earned a clean sheet in her collegiate debut. The WolfPack is 2-0 all-time against the Kougars and owns a 16-0 scoring differential over the two head-to-head matches.
The scoring started in the 8' with forward
Maddie Ludwig notching her first career goal on an assist from sophomore
Kylie Hellenbrand. The duo had flipped roles when producing the first goal of Friday's season-opening win.
Despite a barrage of shots from the WolfPack, it remained 1-0 until the 21' when Zwolschen converted a
Zoey Lovejoy pass to make it a two-goal lead. It was the midfielder/forward from IJsselmuiden, Netherlands, first college goal.
The match started to become one-sided in the 31' as freshman
Makenzie Roman added her name to the goal list with her first. The unassisted scoring strike was followed by the first goal this season for transfer midfielder/forward Mølgård with an assist by Ludwig.
Reesman, a Burlington, Wisconsin, native, then knocked home back-to-back goals in the 36' and 40' to push the differential to 6-0 at halftime. The goals were assisted by
Maddie Marquette and Mølgård.
In the second half, Mølgård made it her first multi-goal game with the WolfPack, sending a
Leslie De La Portilla pass into the net in the 63'. Zwolschen became the third player to reach two goals in the match in the 65', and second year defender
Emmy Coe Troup capped the scoring and ended the game via mercy rule with a successful goal in the 70'. Marquette secured an assist on each of the last two goals, giving her three in the match and tying her with Ludwig for the team lead through two matches. The Janesville, Wisconsin, native, becomes the seventh player in program history with three or more assists in a single game.
Madison College finished with a resounding 48-0 advantage in total shots, with 33 of the shots being put on goal. Uherka, a native of Waupun, Wisconsin, earned her first college win and shutout.
