Madison College Wolfpack

MADISON, WISC. - The opening weekend of 2026 Madison College men's soccer season closed Sunday with a 4-0 win over Patrick & Henry Community College at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch - East. A pair of British players led the way for the unbeated and #9 WolfPack as forward Dylan Sutton scored two of the team's goals and goalkeeper Thomas Randall extended team's season-opening scoreless streak to 180 minutes with his first career shutout. The match was the first meeting all-time with the Patriots.

Madison College got on the scoreboard as the clock moved into the 19' and Randall came up with a save off a header on a deep throw-in. He quickly punted the ball downfield, where first year midfielder Luis Rojas controlled the ball and attempted a shot from right of the goal as he approached the end line. The Patrick & Henry CC (1-1-0) goalkeeper saved it, but redirected the ball right to Sutton as he charged in from the left. Sutton buried the ball in the net to make it 1-0 with his first collegiate goal.

Later in the half, the WolfPack extended their lead to three goals with two in a five-minute span. A throw-in in the 31' led to a foul on PHCC just outside the penalty area, and sophomore Gio Diaz took advantage with a spinning shot to the top left corner of the goal for his second career scoring strike. 

Defensive pressure led to a Patriots turnover late in the 36' and Sutton was there to again pick up the loose ball. After some fancy footwork in the penalty box, he sent a left footed shot through a defenders legs and past the 'keeper for his first career multi-goal game.

In the second half, Sutton had a shot at a hat trick after a Patriots foul resulted in a penalty kick; however, Sutton's attempt was denied by the PHCC goalie. Two minutes after, the WolfPack was back on the attack after the visitors failed to clear the ball when given the chance. Freshman defender Joe Hildal attempted a touch pass towards fellow first year Bryan Hernandez. The pass was deflected and Hernandez tracked it down on the left side of the penalty box, where he rocketed a shot from a tight angle that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the goal. It was the first goal for the native of DeForest, Wisconsin.

Madison College finished with an 11-8 edge in total shots and a 9-3 lead in shots on goal. Randall was credited with three saves en route to his first career clean sheet. Sutton led the squad with three shots on goal, while sophomore Josh Kiltz matched him with three shots overall.

Madison College (2-0-0) continues its five-match homestand to open the season when it hosts Hawkeye Community College (0-2-0) on August 29. It will be the second all-time meeting after the WolfPack defeated the Red Tails 2-1 in Iowa last season. Game time is set for 1:15 p.m. at Irwin A. & Robert D.
