REGION CHAMPS: (1) WolfPack defeats (7) Bryant & Stratton for 14th Region 4 title

NJCAA record for consecutive Div. II World Series appearances extends to eight straight

MADISON, WISC. - Madison College's dominance over Region 4 baseball continues for yet another year in 2026 after the top-seeded WolfPack defeated #7-seeded Bryant & Stratton College by a 10-4 final Saturday at Robin Roberts Field to secure the Region 4 Tournament championship for the 14th time since 2010. It is the program's 25th region crown overall and earns Madison College an eighth straight appearance at the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series, extending their NJCAA record for consecutive appearances. The WolfPack have played in the Region 4 title game 15 times out of 16 seasons since joining the region, and have won 13 Region 4 postseason games in a row going back to 2024.

Madison College jumped out to an early 3-0 in the first inning against the Bobcats, who had used a seven-run first inning in Friday's elimination semifinal to defeat #4-seeded Kankakee Community College 14-3 in five innings. Freshmen outfielders Braylen White and Jonah Roloff, followed by sophomore catcher Nate Novinska all reached on three consecutive singles to start the bottom half of the inning. Second year outfielder Quinn Falish then put a ball in play that resulted in an error by the BSC shortstop, allowing all three runs to score.

The advantage jumped to 8-0 in the fourth inning as the WolfPack took advantage of four hits and one hit batter to score five runs. Freshman designated hitter Casey Wambach was hit by a pitch to start the frame, and after a sacrifice bunt from Eason Hurd and a JJ Wolbert single, the Pack had runners at the corners with one out. White delivered a line drive to center to score Wambach, and two batters later, Novinska produced a run-scoring grounder back up the middle for a five run lead. Falish added an exclamation mark to the inning with a three-run homer to left for his seventh long ball of the season.

Bryant & Stratton College (36-22) narrowed the gap with two runs on three hits in the fifth; however, Madison College regained those two runs in the sixth when Sam Moses drove in Novinska and Falish scored on a wild pitch. With the differential at 10-2, the Bobcats continued to stay within arms reach with one run each in the seventh and eighth innings on bases loaded walks as WolfPack pitching racked up seven walks and one hit batter in those two frames.

Sophomore Landon Dessart stranded a runner in the ninth to secure the win. Starter Tavian Shramek (6-0) earned the win with 6.1 innings of work and five strikeouts, which ties a season-high for the first year righthander from Blair, Wisconsin. He allowed three runs on five hit and a walk. Sophomores Carter Lund and Noah Musolf combined for 1.1 innings and allowed a run on seven walks and no hits. Dessart entered in the eighth for the final 1.1 innings and fanned two while limiting Bryant & Stratton College to one hit.

Falish, a native of De Pere, Wisconsin, drove in a career-best six runs as he was 2 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored. The pitcher turned outfielder now leads the team with 53 runs batted in.

Novinska and White each finished with a team-high three hits. Novinska used his fourth game with three base hits to score three runs and drive in one. White, who boasts six games with three or more hits, touched home twice and recorded one RBI.

Sam Moses had two hits and a walk with one run driven in, and the trio of Roloff, Wambach, and Wolbert each had a hit and a run scored.

The WolfPack defeated the Bobcats 10-2 in eight innings to begin the Region 4 Tournament on Thursday. The all-time series belongs to the Pack by a 15-5 margin, including a 2-1 record this season and a 2-0 mark in postseason meetings
