MADISON, WISC. - Mother Nature is making the 2026 spring season a challenge after halting Tuesday's Region 4 baseball doubleheader between Madison College and Triton College. The #8-ranked WolfPack were able to claim a 10-0 win in five innings to start the twin bill and extend their current win streak to nine game, and held a 4-0 advantage in the second inning of the nightcap when an on-coming storm suspended the game. The Pack's ninth straight victory over the Trojans pushes their lead in the all-time series to 34-21.
Game #1: #8 Madison College 10, Triton College 0 (5 innings)
Madison College steadily controlled the first game of the day in all phases. In the bottom of the first,
JJ Wolbert and
Ian Salvesen sandwiched a pair of singles around a sacrifice bunt from
Braylen White to result in a 1-0 lead. The game remained a one-run differential as starter
Chase Baker worked efficiently from the mound until the offense was able to provide more run support in the fourth.
Two singles and a hit by pitch put runners on, while it was a pair wild pitches by the Trojans starter that resulted in two runs as White and
Nate Novinska eached touched home. Up 3-0, sophomore
Quinn Falish lined a single to left to score
Sam Moses, and a fielder's choice bunt by
Beau Bloxdorf put the Triton College defense in a dilemma, resulting in Falish racing in to score to make it 5-0. The big blow came in the next at bat when first year center fielder
Matt Gruber smashed a three-run homer to right field for an 8-0 advantage. The home run is the first collegiate long ball for the Franksville, Wisconsin, native.
The Trojans seemed prime to put a dent in their deficit during the fifth inning, loading the bases on a hit and two free passes; however, Baker induced an inning-ending fly out to center. Facing a new pitcher, Salvesen led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, and after Novinska was hit by a pitch, the Trojans committed an error on the next ball in play as Salvesen scored. Falish came through with a sac fly to right that scored Novinska and ended the game via run-rule.
Baker (2-0) earned his second win of the season with five scoreless innings and tying a career-high with six strikeouts. He scattered four hits, walked one, and hit one.
Gruber led the team as he tied a career-high with three runs batted in on the home run, which accounted for his lone hit and run scored. Salvesen had two hits, including a double, resulting in a run scored and one batted in. Novinska was tops with two runs scored, while Falish had a hit, a run, and two RBI. Bloxdorf went 0 for 2 with a run scored and one driven in. Wolbert, White, and
Casey Wambach each had a hit and a run.
Game #2: #8 Madison College 4, Triton College 0 (Suspended in 2nd inning)
In the second game against Triton College (13-14-1), the WolfPack jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman first baseman
Ian Salvesen started the scoring with his second double of the day and his team-leading 40th run batted in as
Beau Bloxdorf scored from first. A string of four consecutive singles followed, including a two-run base hit by
Sam Moses and a RBI single for
Casey Wambach.
After starter
Carter Lund worked a four-batter top of the second to keep the Trojans off the board, Bloxdorf was hit by a pitch to open the home half. Two pitched into Salvesen's at bat, a lightning strike and on-coming storm suspended play.
A date and time to resume the game has yet to be determined.

Madison College (23-6) was also scheduled for a non-region game Wednesday against #14-ranked Heartland Community College (25-13); however, the storms dropped enough rain to prevent the field from being playable and canceling the contest. The WolfPack is back home at
Robin Roberts Field on Thursday, April 16 to host a Region 4 game against Elgin Community College (10-17). The WolfPack is 38-21 all-time against the Spartans. The teams already saw a doubleheader in Illinois canceled due to weather this season. First pitch of the 1x9 is at 3:00 p.m. and will be streamed live at
