MADISON, WISC. - Bryant & Stratton College scored the last 12 points of Tuesday night's Region 4 men's basketball game with Madison College, and eventually left
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium with a 70-65 victory in a matchup of in-state rivals and ranked teams. Sophomore
Jackson Bertagnoli came to life in the second half en route to a career-best 27 points and nine rebounds to lead the #14-ranked WolfPack, who failed to score over the game's final four minutes. The #25-ranked Bobcats have won five straight in the head-to-head series and lead it by a 6-3 count.
The two familiar foes played a back-and-forth first 20 minutes, with Bryant & Stratton College (17-7) holding the upper-hand early before the WolfPack used a 15-5 run to take a 17-10 lead five minutes into the game following the second three-pointer of the game by
Jackson Bertagnoli. The Bobcats rallied by for a 25-19 advantage. The differential grew to as much as nine in the first half until
George Whaley IV drilled a three-pointer to make it a 34-28 BSC lead at the break.
Madison College has been a second half team this season, and appeared headed down that path again Tuesday as they rattled off 14 of the next 17 points, eight of which were scored by Bertagnoli, to regain the lead at 47-41 with just over 12 minutes to play. Sophomore
Noah Compan made a layup a few minutes later to give Madison its largest lead at 59-50 with eight minutes to go. The differential remained seven at 65-58 after Bertagnoli sank his final basket of the with a lefthanded layup as the clock approached four minutes remaining.
The WolfPack would not score again as Bryant & Stratton College closed the game with a 12-0 run that saw the home team commit three turnovers and miss their final three field goal tries and one free throw attempt. The Bobcats, meanwhile, went 6 for 9 at the charity stripe and 2 of 6 from the floor during that stretch.
Bertagnoli, a native of Janesville, Wisconsin, scored 20 of his 27 points in the second half to lead all scorers. The 6'3" guard was 11 for 15 overall and 3 for 4 from beyond the arc, while also making both of his free throws. He added nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one blocked shot. Bertagnoli has scored in double-figures four times this season.
McCormick, a longtime high school and college teammate of Bertagnoli, pitched in with 12 points and a team-leading four assists. He was a perfect 3 for 3 from long range as part of a 4 for 6 effort overall and made 1 of 3 free throws.
Madison College finished 25 for 50 (50%) from the field, 9 for 15 (60%) from outside the arc, and 6 for 11 (54%) at the free throw line.
At halftime of the game, the Madison College Athletics Department recognized the members of the
Fall 2025 WolfPack 9 for their academic success.
