ROCKFORD, ILL. - The Madison College women's soccer team concluded a daunting stretch of their schedule Wednesday with a narrow 1-0 loss at defending Region 4 champion Rock Valley College. The #11-ranked Golden Eagles handed the WolfPack their second consecutive shutout loss to a ranked opponent. The loss increases the Pack's deficit in the all-time series as RVC leads 12-8-2.
Rock Valley College (11-2-1) scored the lone goal of the match in the 11', and it came on their third shot as the Golden Eagles were the aggressor early. The unassisted scoring strike beat freshman goalkeeper
Arabella Penfold.
The WolfPack struggled to control the ball and were limited to two total shots and just one shot on goal. Those looks did not come until the final ten minutes of the game when sophomore
Amalia Molgard was denied by the RVC 'keeper in the 83' and freshman
Emlyn Knutson missed an attempt high over the crossbar in the 87'.
Penfold finished with a career-high 14 saves. Rock Valley owned a 24-2 advantage in total shots and a 16-1 lead in shots on goal.
