WolfPack stay perfect in Region 4, roll past Kishwaukee to open 2026

14 blocked shots sets new record for Madison College, now receiving votes in latest NJCAA Poll

MALTA, ILL. - Tuesday marked a big day for the Madison College women's basketball team, who remained unbeaten against Region 4 competition with a resounding 85-53 victory at Kishwaukee College to begin the second half of the 2025-26 season. The WolfPack, who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division II Poll released earlier in the day, led start to finish after building a 20-point lead in the first quarter and set a new team record with 14 blocked shots. Freshman Serinity Metcalfe reached the 20-point plateau for the sixth time this season as the Pack improved to 18-11 all-time against the Kougars.

Madison College stormed out of the gates with a 14-3 run the turned into a 27-7 advantage after ten minutes. The momentum continued into the second quarter, which the WolfPack won by a 23-14 differential to take a 50-21 lead into halftime.



Kishwaukee College (5-9) played a more competitive second half as they matched the Pack with 15 points in the third quarter and were within three points in fourth quarter scoring.

The WolfPack finished 29 for 67 (43%) for their seventh game shooting better than 40% overall. They also tied a season high with nine 3-pointers and shot 27% (9-33) from beyond the arc. Madison College was also 18 for 23 (78%) at the free throw line. Additionally, the visitors owned a 50-41 edge in total rebounds, a 16-9 lead in second chance points, and a 26-16 edge in points off turnovers.

Metcalfe, a guard from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, tallied a game-high 24 points, to go along with career-bests of nine rebounds and seven assists. She also added five steals and a blocked shot. On the night, Metcalfe was 9 for 17 from the field, 4 of 10 from distance, and 2 for 3 at the stripe. She has scored in double-figures in 11 of 13 games this season.

Sophomores Maia Ellis and Keelyn Zwirschitz both scored 16 points as the duo combined to make ten baskets, including one triple from Zwirschitz, and were 11 for 13 at the free throw line. Ellis collected eight boards, five assists, four steals, and a season-high four blocks by the Verona, Wisconsin, native. Zwirschitz was right behind with seven rebounds. 



Jamera Green, another freshman from Milwaukee, rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points, highlighted by a season-high three 3-pointers.

First year forward Maddi DeSmet dropped in nine points, while also dominating the interior with career-highs of 15 rebounds and six blocked shots. The Belleville, Wisconsin, product, boasts five games with double-digit rebounds, and is now one of seven players with six or more blocked shots in a game in program history.

Madison College (11-2) plays their first home game of the new year against Blackhawk Technical College (2-11) on Saturday, January 10. The meeting will mark the first between the WolfPack and the Talons, who are competing in their first season in Region 4.
