MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's basketball team asserted their dominance in Thursday's 86-58 victory over the College of DuPage in a Region 4 clash inside
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Freshman
Carter Sullivan registered his second double-double of the season to lead the #13-ranked WolfPack. The victory gives the Pack a one-game advantage in the all-time series, which stands at 19-18.
Madison College opened with an 8-0 run; however, the Chaparrals answered with a 14-7 surge to pull within a point. The WolfPack never relinquished the lead despite the College of DuPage (12-6) still trailing by a point following three free throws. Freshman
Isaiah Robinson drained one of his three 3-pointers in the game to start a quick 8-0 burst that keyed a 24-4 closing stretch to take a 46-25 lead at halftime.
The Chaps came out of halftime looking to make a comeback, and after a three-pointer made it a 48-33 differential, Madison College used a three-point play by Sullivan to trigger a 23-3 surge that saw COD go without a field goal for nearly six minutes as the Pack built their largest lead of the game at 71-36.
Sullivan, a Stoughton, Wisconsin, native, scored 12 of his career-high 19 points in the first half and completed his double-double with ten rebounds. He was 8 for 14 overall with one 3-pointer and knocked down both free throws.
Robinson, a guard from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, also produced a career-best with 15 points, to go along with two rebounds and two assists off the bench. It is his first double-digit scoring effort of the season.
Like Robinson,
Braylen Blue also splashed three baskets from three-point territory en route to 16 points. The second year transfer from Salt Lake Community College added eight boards.
And freshman
Cam Williams produced his second consecutive double-digit scoring game in reserve duty with 11 points.
Madison was 33 of 69 (47%) for the game and 12 for 31 (38%) from beyond the arc, giving the team eight games with ten or more three-pointers this season. They were also 8 of 9 (89%) at the charity stripe. The WolfPack amassed a 34-17 advantage in bench points and a 15-6 edge in points off turnovers.
