Madison College runs win streak to four with 1-0 road defeat of Oakton

Coventry provides third straight shutout for WolfPack goalkeepers

DES PLAINES, ILL. - Madison College has not allowed a goal in 315 consecutive minutes after completing a third straight shutout win with a 1-0 decision over Oakton College in a Region 4 men's soccer match Saturday. Freshman goalkeeper Caylen Coventry earned his second clean sheet while sophomore Jacob Unger second half goal provided the difference on the scoreboard.

Madison dominated the ball throughout much of the match, including a 7-1 advantage in total shots in the first half. The WolfPack placed five of those shots on goal; however, the Owls goalkeeper denied each attempt with a save.

Just minutes into the second half, Unger broke through the day's only goal. As the visitors worked the ball around on the right side of the pitch, freshman Carson Stebbins centered a pass into the penalty area, where sophomore forward Hudson Nielsen was able to track it down. After reversing direction as he chased it towards the left sideline, Nielsen delivered a low roller towards the net and Unger punched it past a diving Oakton College (1-4) 'keeper for the game-winner.

The WolfPack continued to attack the net, but was never able to add any insurance to the scoreboard. Meanwhile, the Madison defense continued to due its part and held the Owls without a shot on goal the entire match. The final shots totals favored the Pack by a 17-2 margin, including a 12-0 differential in shots on goal.

Coventry, a native of Barcelona, Spain, boasts a personal streak of 225 scoreless minutes dating back to the season opener.

Unger's goal is the second of the season and fourth career for the Sussex, Wisconsin, product. He now owns four total points on the season, while Nielsen's second assist this year gives him a team-leading six points.

The win evens the all-time series with the Owls at two wins apiece.
