MADISON, WISC. - Wednesday's 9-1 drubbing of Kankakee Community College in a Region 4 men's soccer match at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East resulted in Madison College extending their season-opening win streak to five games.
Cole Rogers and
Josh Kiltz each netted their first career multi-goal performances as part of a group of six goal scorers overall. Goalkeepers
Caylen Coventry and
Finn Dillon combined to allow just one goal, which snapped a scoreless streak of 370 consecutive minutes.
Rogers, a native of Aukland, New Zealand, took the first step towards his first-ever hat trick as he opened the game's scoring in the 14' by converting a
Dan Fox pass. The pass came in from the right side of the pitch, and after splitting between a Kankakee Community College (2-3) defender and Stebbins, the ball found its way to Rogers right foot with just a goalkeeper between him and the net. Rogers beat him to the left side for a 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later, sophomore
Rodrigo Lasso was awarded a penalty kick, which resulted in a successful try and a two-goal advantage.
The lead grew to 3-0 in the 22' as Rogers redirected a low Stebbins kick off a corner set play.
Johan Lopez made it 4-0 in the 38' after fellow freshman
Jorge Mendoza came up with a steal and found Lopez near the top of the penalty box. He juked one defender and placed a scoring strike below the falling goalkeeper.
The hat trick for Rogers came in early in the second half as the 6'3" midfielder knocked home a header off a corner kick. Mendoza, a Progreso, Texas, native, spun the corner kick towards the far post, and after four players jumped and missed their header attempts, Rogers was waiting to make his attempt. The goalkeeper did get a hand on the ball, but was only able to deflect it up-and-over another defenders final attempt to head it out of the box.

Madison College had dominated the ball to that point, not allowing a single shot. The WolfPack eventually changed goalkeepers as Dillon replaced Coventry, and shortly after, the Cavaliers generated some offensive pressure that resulted in a shot on goal that Dillon tried to deflect up-and-over the the crossbar. Unfortunately, the ball trickled in and the scoreless minutes streak was over.
Offensively, the Pack pushed forward with a
Junior Guerrero goal in the 56', followed by back-to-back goals from freshman
Josh Kiltz in the 62' and 71' for the first of his career, with Guerrero earning an assist on the former. The match ended via mercy rule in the 75' when Stebbins took a
Justyn Blair pass and scored to make it 9-1.
For Rogers, the three goals are his first of the season and give him seven for his career. He is now tied with Lopez for the team lead in goals scored on the year. Lasso and Stebbins each have two goals in 2025.
Hudson Nielsen led all players with five total shots, while Rogers was tops with three shots on goal.
The WolfPack finished with a resounding 25-1 advantage in total shots and a 12-1 lead in shots on goal. The home team also attempted 11 more corner kicks. Madison College is 6-2 all-time against Kankakee Community College
