WolfPack rolls to third straight win with rout of Malcolm X College

Madison College racks up eight goals, posts second consecutive shutout

MADISON, WISC. - Wednesday's Region 4 men's soccer match at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East between Madison College and Malcolm X College resulted in a lopsided 8-0 victory for the WolfPack, who have won three straight contests to open the 2025 season. Seven different players scored a goal in the game, led by sophomore forward Hudson Nielsen with two goals, while first year goaltender Finn Dillon extended the team's scoreless minutes streak to 225 with the Pack's second consecutive clean sheet. Madison has won all five head-to-head meetings with the Hawks.

A scoreless game through 17-plus minutes ended when Madison College took advantage of a pair of corner kicks in the first half. Freshman Paul Glashagen, a native of Freital, Germany, netted his first career goal with an 18' header off the corner from Jorge Mendoza. Three minutes later, Mendoza was again lined up for a corner kick, which was headed in again by a flying JJ Espinosa. The Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, native's first goal of the season marks the fourth of his career.

Up 2-0 with the first half starting to wind down, Malcolm X College (2-3-0) was whistled for a yellow card just outside the WolfPack penalty box, which set up Nielsen for a free kick. The product of Huntley, Illinois, bent a scoring strike over the Hawks defense and sprawling goalkeeper and into the top right corner to make it a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Madison College exploded in the second half, scoring four goals in an eight minute stretch. Junior Guerrero, a second year forward, converted a Glashagen pass in the 53'. Nielsen notched his second goal of the game and season in the 56', with Guerrero earning an assist. Lukas Dogru, a sophomore from Waunakee, Wisconsin, made it 6-0 with a 58' goal in his first game of the season after missing the previous two. Freshman Josh Kiltz was credited with an assist. Guerrero made it a four-point night with his second assist, helping first year forward Carson Stebbins find the back of the net in the 60'.

The match was winding down when Johan Lopez, a freshman from Baraboo, Wisconsin, converted a pass from the team's newest member, Alfonso Mendez, to make it 8-0. The goal also moved Lopez into a tie for the team lead in goals with two on the season.

Dillon, a former Janesville Craig HS athlete, made four saves en route to his first collegiate victory in net, earning a 90-minute shutout just four days after teammate Caylen Coventry did the same against Carl Sandburg College.

Nielsen now boasts a dozen goals for his career, while Guerrero has three in a WolfPack kit. Dogru's goal joined Glashagen and Stebbins in the first career goal category. Nielsen and Espinosa each tallied four total points, followed by three for Glashagen.

Madison College finished with a large advantage towards the net, registering a 27-6 lead in total shots and a 12-4 differential in shots on goal. The Pack also held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
