MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's soccer team will play for its first-ever
Region 4 Division II Tournament championship after the top-seeded WolfPack buried #4-seeded Elgin Community College with a 5-0 win in the semifinals on Tuesday at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch - East. Freshman
Paul Glashagen scored two goals in a span of four minutes in the first half, while first year goalkeeper
Caylen Coventry recorded his second consecutive postseason shutout and sixth clean sheet of the season. Madison College, ranked #12 in the NJCAA Division II Poll, will make its fourth appearance in a Region 4 final and first since 2022, with this also marking its first appearance in the Division II championship match.
The first goal of the match came in the 24' as
Cole Rogers tapped a loose ball in the direction of
Josh Kiltz. The freshman from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, blasted a shot from outside the penalty box and it was saved by the Spartans goalkeeper as he dove to his left. The rebound went right for first year midfielder
Justyn Blair and he kicked it right in.
Madison College smelled blood in the water after Blair's third scoring strike of the season, and proceeded to add two more over the next eight minutes. The WolfPack showed off their transition game in the 28' when a steal by
Rodrigo Lasso led to
Carson Stebbins attacking the middle from the left sideline. Stebbins lost his balance among a crowd of Spartans defenders; however, his pass near the penalty kick marker was tracked down by Glashagen and he booted it in for his second goal in as many games.
Glashagen, a native of Freital, Germany, made it his first career multi-goal performance with another right place, right time moment in the 32'. On a set play from outside the penalty area, a free kick by
Hudson Nielsen was blocked by the Elgin Community College (12-5-4) wall. Nielsen followed it up with another kick, a low roller that was deflected out by ECC. Glashagen again raced in and lined up a goal just inside the left post to make it 3-0 on his fourth goal in 2025.
In the second half, Madison College earned a 49' corner kick that was headed by Rogers. The Spartans defended the play, but couldn't clear the ball and Nielsen, much like Glashagen on the two prior goals, happened to be in a perfect place to race in and blister a shot into the net. The forward from Huntley, Illinois, leads the team with a dozen goals and 28 points.
The day's final goal was scored by sophomore
Tristan Steinhoff in the 86' as the Hamburg, Germany, native, converted a pass from Kiltz, who had come up with a steal in the defensive zone. Steinhoff snuck it past the goalkeeper for his second goal in the last three matches.
The WolfPack racked up a 14-5 lead in total shots and an 8-2 edge in both shots on goal and corner kicks. Blair was tops with three shots, while Glashagen led with two shots on goal.
Coventry came up with two saves to preserve his second postseason shutout.
Madison College is 6-2 all-time against Elgin Community College.
