GALESBURG, ILL. - Madison College rebounded from its first loss of the season with an 87-58 victory over Carl Sandburg College in a Region 4 matchup on Saturday. Freshman
Serinity Metcalfe and sophomore
Dani Latz combined to score 53 points in the win. The victory also snaps a four-game skid in head-to-head matchups with the Chargers, who still own a 9-6 edge in the all-time series.
Following an evenly-played first ten minutes, Madison College pulled away in the second quarter with a 26-12 scoring differential to lead by 15 at halftime. Carl Sandburg College (2-2) won the third frame by a 16-15 tally; however, the WolfPack closed out the win with an impressive 30-15 fourth quarter for the 29-point victory.
Metcalfe, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native racked up a career-high 29 points as she improved her streak of double-digit games to five straight. The 5'7" guard was 11 for 18 on the day with five 3-pointers and a pair of free throws. Metcalfe also added seven rebounds and three steals.
Latz recorded her second 20-point game of the season and ninth of her career with 24 points, to go along with a game-best eight rebounds.
Maia Ellis led the way with five assists and pitched in with five points.
Nine WolfPack players in all scored in the game as they combined to shoot a season-high 56% (32-57), which included a season-bests of 53% (7-13) from beyond the arc and 84% (16-19) at the free throw line.
