WISCONSIN DELLS, WISC. - Friday night's 108-37 win over Gogebic Community College at JustAGame Fieldhouse marked the first time in five years the Madison College women's basketball team scored 100 points in a single game. Six players scored in double figures, led by a double-double effort from sophomore
Dani Latz, as the WolfPack scored the program's most points in a game since the 2014-15 season when they tallied 112 in a road win over Triton College just ten days after putting up 109 at Wilbur Wright College. The win improves Madison's lead in the all-time series to 30-17 against the Samsons.
Madison College scored the game's first nine points to set the tone for an historic night. The lead grew as high as 14 in the first quarter before the WolfPack took an 18-9 differential into the second quarter, during which they outscored Gogebic Community College (0-1) by a 22-8 margin to go ahead by 23 at halftime.
The game became very one-sided with an impressive 39-point third quarter performance by the Pack. Madison put together a 17-0 run and eventually held a 79-25 differential with ten minutes left to play, and they finished with a 29-12 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Forward
Dani Latz racked up 20 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and 20th of her career. She also added a season-high four blocked shots.
Freshman
Iyanna Green added career-best numbers in three categories with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Serinity Metcalfe nearly completed her first double-double as she finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and six steals, establishing new career-highs for rebounds and steals.
Madison Colelge also received 13 points from
Jamera Green, 11 by
Maddi DeSmet, and ten from
Chloey Bynum, who sank two of the team's five 3-pointers.
The WolfPack shot a season-best 53% (43-80) from the floor, including a 5 for 21 (23%) effort from long range, and were 17 for 26 (65%) at the free throw line. They also outrebounded GCC by a 48 to 26 margin and forced 32 turnovers defensively. Madison College owned advantages of 31-9 in points off turnovers, 68-18 in points in the paint, 19-2 in second chance scoring, and 54-13 in bench production.
