MADISON, WISC. - Friday's regular season finale and Region 4 women's volleyball match was more treat than trick as Madison College swept Black Hawk College 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-18) to reach 30 wins for the ninth time in program history and first since 2015. The WolfPack, who have won 13 straight matches and are ranked #11 in the NJCAA Division II Poll, are 3-0 all-time against the Braves. Prior to the match, Madison College recognized the five-member Sophomore Class of 2025, which included
Avery Agnew,
Kate Howe,
Sammy Johnson,
Tricia Klum, and
Cora Webster.
The WolfPack built an 8-4 lead in the first set on a 5-0 run that included back-to-back aces from
Sam Schultz, followed by consecutive kills by
Ella Vosberg. After Black Hawk College (15-20) closed the gap to two, Madison strung together a quick 6-1 surge to regain control and eventually win by 11 points.Â
Set two was completely dominated by Madison College, and it started with a 15-point service run by Schultz. The Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, native, recorded three aces during the stretch, which ended with a serve error. Another five-point burst ended with a
Rowan Harder service error to make it 20-2 en route to a commanding 25-7 decision.Â
The third set was evenly played through the first dozen points; however, the Pack engineered an 11-4 stretch that began with an ace from Webster. The lead grew to as much as nine before
Allie Andrews finished off the win with a block.
The WolfPack finished with 34 kills and a .264 attack percentage, while also posting 13 aces, five blocks, and 44 digs.Â
Vosberg tallied a match-high 11 kills, followed by seven for Schultz and six each by Howe and Andrews.
Andrews, a native of Darlington, Wisconsin, stacked up 24 assists, three aces, two blocks, and five digs, while Schultz contributed six aces and five digs.Â
Agnew was tops with 18 digs to lead the defensive effort.
