Webster ties match record for aces as #18 WolfPack sweep Bryant & Stratton

Madison College takes three-match win streak into home quad on Friday

MADISON, WISC. - Madison College made quick work of a three-set sweep over in-state rival Bryant & Stratton College in a Region 4 women's volleyball match Tuesday night inside H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Sophomore Cora Webster tied a program record with 11 aces in the match, a feat only accomplished by Kristin Brochtrup in 2006. Winners of three straight matches, the #18-ranked WolfPack are now 11-1 all-time against the Bobcats and have won nine consecutive meetings.

Webster got things going early with two aces in a early 8-0 run in the first set. Yet another eight-point service run in the second set featured four aces, including two that were back-to-back. The defensive specialist/libero from Waunakee, Wisconsin, added one more ace late in the second before she capped the record-tying performance with four in the third set. The first three were again the result of an eight-point service run - and saw yet another back-to-back aces sequence - while the ace to match the record occurred later to give the Pack a 19-10 lead. The record-tying effort came as part of a career-first double-double with 11 aces and 11 digs.

All three sets followed nearly identical storylines, with Bryant & Stratton College (1-9) claiming the first point and then the WolfPack rattling off eight straight points to take control. In the first set, the Bobcats took a 3-0 lead before Madison followed Webster's service to an 8-0 run. They added a seven-point stretch later in the set to win by 15. The second set not only featured the 8-1 surge and the aces from Webster, but also an impressive effort by freshman outside hitter Sam Schultz with six kills, four of came in consecutive points. Fellow first year Makayla Dallas added four kills to help the Pack amass a set-high 14. And in the third set, Madison College used the 8-1 start to cruise to a 12-point win and the match.

The home team racked up 37 kills and a .342 attack percentage, resulting in the team's ninth match with a .300 or better efficiency. They added 39 digs, two blocks, and 15 aces for their 16th match with double-digit aces. The WolfPack currently ranks eighth in the nation in total aces with 276.

Schultz, a native of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, came through with a team-high 16 kills and a season-best .538 attack percentage. The 5'6" outside hitter now boasts eight matches with ten or more kills. Dallas and Ella Vosberg added six kills, followed by five from Allie Andrews

Sophomore Tricia Klum was tops with 17 assists, and Andrews was next with a dozen. First year libero Avery Agnew tied Webster for the team lead in digs with 11 as she's reached double-digits in digs in 21 of 24 matches.

Tuesday's win also moved Madison College to the 20-win plateau for the third time in head coach Mallory Stone's four-year tenure with the program.
