Madison College shut out for second straight game

WolfPack unable to find the net despite advantages in shots

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's soccer team was shut out for the second straight game - resulting in their first losing streak of the season - as they dropped a Region 4 match 1-0 against Moraine Valley Community College at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. The WolfPack controlled the ball and generated more looks at the goal than the Cyclones, who now own a 2-1-1 lead in the all-time series.

Madison College finished with a 12-5 advantage in total shots and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal, as well as with a 6-4 differential in corner kicks. Sophomore transfer Reese Brekke led the way with five shots, followed by four from second year Ava Schmidt. They both had two shots on goal, with Mirella Zielke and Hayleigh Motelet attempting the other two.

Moraine Valley Community College (8-5) scored the game's lone goal on a free kick to start the 29'. The attempt from a few yards in front of the penalty box arc sailed over the WolfPack block and beyond the outstretched hands of freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Allen, who was making her collegiate debut in net. The native of Sauk City, Wisconsin, was credited with three saves.

The WolfPack really applied the pressure in the second half down a goal, and saw shots by Schmidt and Brekke hit the crossbar, among many other shots that were saved by the Cyclones 'keeper en route to a clean sheet.
