Blair powers #15 WolfPack in win over Moraine Valley

Freshman connects on two goals as win total reached double digits for seventh time in last ten years

MADISON, WISC. - Prior to Sunday's Region 4 men's soccer match between Madison College and Moraine Valley Community College, freshman midfielder Justyn Blair had not scored a goal in nine matches played. He now boasts two goals and the #15-ranked WolfPack own double-digit wins as part of an 11-match unbeaten streak following a 2-0 victory at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. The win is the first for the Pack in the all-time series, which the Cyclones lead 4-1.

Neither team was able to score through the first 45 minutes of the match, sending the teams into halftime all square at 0-0. That changed just nine minutes into the second half when Madison took advantage of a corner kick. Fellow first year Guilherme Amaral's kick to the front of the net was headed by Blair and bounced directly into the net for his first collegiate goal.

As the match moved into the 61', Blair struck again with a superb kick. Sophomore Hudson Nielsen worked the ball from the left side of the pitch into Blair, and the Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, native, tapped the ball out to his right before delivering a rocket to the top-right corner of the net to secure his first career multi-goal performance.

Moraine Valley Community College (6-6) was able to get off two more shots as they tried to cut into the WolfPack lead; however, one missed high and the other is saved by freshman goalkeeper Caylen Coventry. The former Oregon HS athlete finished the match with the one save to earn his third clean sheet of the season.

Blair led the Pack with four shots on goal and six total shots, followed by Nielsen with three shots on goal. Rodrigo Lasso added four shots and put two on goal.

The WolfPack have matched their win total from last season, marking their second ten-win campaign under coach Logan Fye and their seventh season with ten or more victories in the last ten years. The last time they were without a loss through 11 matches was the 2007 team that went 15-0-1 until losing in the NJCAA District Championship.
