Early goal not enough as late DuPage goal sinks WolfPack

Freshman Voung nets her second goal of the season

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - In their penultimate game of the 2025 regular season, the Madison College women's soccer team was unable to hold an early lead and suffered a 2-1 loss in Region 4 competition at the College of DuPage on Sunday. Freshman Chloe Voung provided the team's lone goal as the WolfPack lost for the fourth time in the last six outings. The loss ends a brief two-match win streak over the Chaparrals, who maintain a narrow 11-8-2 edge in the all-time series.

Madison College needed less than 15 minutes to secure the match's first goal, which was scored in the 14' by Voung. The WolfPack played the ball up ahead to advance the action and the Chaps defense attempted to clear it back out. The misplayed clear rolled right to Voung, who launched a perfectly-placed shot over the goalkeeper and under the crossbar. The goal is her second of the season and snaps an eight-match scoring drought for the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, native.

Unfortunately, the College of DuPage (9-2-2) only needed nine more minutes to net the equalizer as they beat sophomore goalkeeper Kaelyn Welch in the 23' to even the score at 1-1.

The WolfPack controlled the ball for much of the remainder of the match. Voung, a midfielder, attempted to more shots in the first half, missing one high and the other being saved by the Chaps 'keeper.

Two more shots from the Pack came up empty early in the second half as the COD goalkeeper denied Voung and freshman defender Alexandra Leal within two minutes of each other.

The Chaparrals tallied the game-winning goal in the 81' on their second shot of the match. One last attempt to tie the score came in the 89' with Voung kicking her fifth shot and fourth shot on goal, but once again the opposing GK was up to the challenge.

Madison College held a 9-2 advantage in total shots and a 7-2 lead in shots on goal, to go along with a 7-1 differential in corner kicks that favored the road team.
