WolfPack earns draw with #5 Joliet to close out home schedule

Nine second year players were recognized prior to kickoff for Sophomore Day

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's soccer team went 5-3-1 on their home turf in the 2025 regular season after playing to a 0-0 draw in Wednesday's Region 4 match at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. The WolfPack still lead the all-time series by a 13-4-3 margin against the Wolves, who were ranked #5 in the NJCAA Division III Poll. Prior to the match, the nine-member Sophomore Class of 2025 was recognized, a group that includes Reese Brekke, Maddie Cadd, Suzy Hinds Cruz, Lexi Huebner, Finley LaFlash, Alyssa Moore, Ava Schmidt, Kaelyn Welch, and Mirella Zielke.

Joliet Junior College (12-2-1) controlled the ball for much of the first half and finished with a 4-2 edge in shots on goal despite both teams recording six total shots. Madison College applied more pressure on the Wolves defense in the second half. LaFlash, a former Madison Memorial HS athlete, had a good look at the net in the 74'; however, the ball rolled just past the left post.

A corner kick in the 85' minute led to a kick towards the net from Hinds Cruz. As the ball made its way through traffic, it was blocked by a JJC defender before entering the goal to keep the game scoreless.

As the clock was preparing to run out, the WolfPack took one more shot at the net. Off a throw-in from the left sideline, Brekke tapped a pass towards the top of the penalty arc, where freshman Chloe Voung fired a shot on goal that was caught by the goalkeeper with ten seconds to play.

Hinds Cruz and Voung were credited with the two shots on goal. Welch, a native of Monroe, Wisconsin, made four saves en route to her seventh clean sheet of the season.
