MADISON, WISC. - In an in-state and Region 4 showdown with Bryant & Stratton College, the Madison College women's basketball team lost 104-33 despite all five players scoring Thursday night inside
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Freshmen
Kialee Fox and
Mirella Zielke, both of whom played for the WolfPack women's soccer team in the fall, each tied for career-high in points. The Bobcats win gives BSC a 4-2 edge in the all-time series. Madison College celebrated National Girls & Women in Sport Day during the game.
After Bryant & Stratton College (16-8) scored eight straight points to take an 8-2 lead, sophomore
Kayla Staveness converted back-to-back buckets to get within two. The Bobcats answered with a 13-0 surge to end the first quarter with a 15-point lead. The differential continued to grow in the second quarter despite a pair of Staveness three-pointers. Another double-digit scoring run for BSC sent the teams into halftime at 51-17.
In the third quarter, second year guard
Kaylee Anzalone joines Staveness in sinking shots from beyond the arc, while Fox made her third field goal of the game.
Tazhia Aune became the final Madison College player to score with a baseline jumper in the fourth quarter, and Zielke closed out the game with her only bucket in the final minutes.
Staveness finished with 17 points on 6 of 21 shooting with three 3-pointers and a 2 for 4 effort at the free throw line. She also contributed five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Fox scored six points to tie her career-best as she sank 3 of 8 shots, to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Zielke, a native of Edgerton, Wisconsin, matched career-high's in both points and rebounds with three points and ten boards.

Madison College (1-21) will play its final road game of the 2023-24 season on Tuesday, February 13 when it travels to South Suburban College (2-15) for a Region 4 game. The Bulldogs defeated the WolfPack last year in Madison in the only prior meeting between the two teams. Tip off is set for 5:00 p.m. in South Holland, Wisconsin.
