SOUTH HOLLAND, ILL. - In a matchup of two teams desperate to end double-digit losing streaks, South Suburban College came out on top of Madison College by a 68-42 final in a Region 4 women's basketball game Tuesday night.
Kayla Staveness, a sophomore guard, recorded her first career double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. The Bulldogs lead the WolfPack in the all-time series by a 2-0 tally.
Despite a back-and-forth start to the first quarter, South Suburban College (3-15) was able to build a 19-8 lead after the first quarter ended, and grew the advantage to 44-17 at the half. The second half played much more competitively, with the Bulldogs winning the third quarter by a 12-9 margin, and Madison College taking the final ten minutes with a 16-12 differential.
Staveness' 26 points mark her eighth game with 20 or more points as she was 8 for 26 overall and sank four 3-pointers for the fifth time this season. The Rio, Wisconsin, native also went 6 for 6 at the free throw line and ranks fourth in the nation in free throws made. The 11 rebounds tie for a career-high she established in November 2022.

Kaylee Anzalone with six points, and five points each by freshman
