Prairie State College (8-2) held the WolfPack without a basket for a little over four minutes in the first quarter, translating into a 9-0 run and a 14-point lead until first year guard
Jaida Gaskins knocked down a three-pointer. The Pioneers added five more points after that to close the opening ten minutes with a 23-7 advantage.
Madison College came to life in the second quarter, which they won by a 20-16 margin. A 6-0 surge more than midway through the quarter trimmed the deficit ten before PSC took a 39-27 lead into the halftime locker room.
Much like the first quarter, the WolfPack struggled to open the second half as Prairie State generated a 16-1 run that built a 28-point advantage. Madison College scored the final three field goals of the period to make it 62-40 heading into the fourth quarter.
That fight carried on into the final ten minutes and the Pack scored nine of the first ten points to close within 63-49 with more than five minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the home team was never able to get any closer than 13 points over the final minutes.
Keys, a forward from Kenosha, Wisconsin, set new career-high's of 13 points and 13 rebounds en route to her first career double-double. She finished 5 for 8 from the field and 3 for 5 at the free throw line, to go along with two assists and two steals. Of her 13 boards, Keys pulled down four offensive rebounds.
First year guard
Keelyn Zwirschitz matched Keys for the team-lead in scoring with 13 points, tying her previous career-best from the season opener. The native of Antigo, Wisconsin, sank one of her five shots from beyond the arc and was 2 for 2 at the line.
Latz recorded her sixth consecutive double-double, recording ten points and 12 rebounds. The 5'0" forward from Bloomer, Wisconsin, made five of her 12 shot attempts and reeled in six offensive rebounds, while also collecting two assists and three steals.
Madison College was 22 for 64 (34%) overall, 3 for 17 (17%) from three-point range, and 11 for 15 (73%) at the line. The Pioneers were 39% (29-74) on the day, 26% (7-27) from long range, and 46% (6-13) from the stripe. Prairie State owned a 14-10 lead in second chance points, a 42-34 edge in points in the paint, and a 22-14 advantage in points off turnovers as the WolfPack committed eight more turnovers in the game.
