Trio leads WolfPack in lopsided win over rival Milwaukee Tech

Three players score multiple goals as Madison College posts double-digits for second time

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's soccer team steamrolled over in-state and Region 4 rival Milwaukee Area Technical College on Saturday with a 10-0 win at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. Seven different players found the back of the net, with Carter Uhlmann, Riann Amini, and Hudson Nielsen each scoring twice. The WolfPack have won 22 of the last 23 meetings against the Stormers and lead the all-time series by a 52-15-3 mark. Prior to the match, Madison College Athletics recognized the Sophomore Class of 2024, which included Enzo Guimarães, Alfredo Herrera, Felipe Dewes, Bryan Garcia, Carter Uhlmann, Damo Lovell, Adair Tlatoa, John Soberon-Chehade, Ayden White, Thomas Garcia, and manager Ryan Candella.

Madison College got right to work scoring a 1' goal for the second time this season. Sophomore John Soberon-Chehade, a transfer from UW-Milwaukee, applied early pressure on the Stormers back line and eventually came up with a steal. He then found second year midfielder Felipe Dewes cutting through the penalty box. The native of Carlos Barbosa, Brazil, blazed towards the goal and beat the keeper with a low shot to towards the left post for his third goal of the season and fourth of his career.

Sophomore Carter Uhlmann started a scoring barrage of three goals over six minutes when he redirected a Cole Rogers pass and it looped over the goalkeeper to the back of the net to make it 20 in the 14'. Roger, a native of Auckland, New Zealand, then dialed up a long-range goal in the 17' when an errant pass came his way about 45 yards out and he delivered a scoring strike right underneath the crossbar for a three-goal advantage. The first year midfielder is now fifth on the team with four goals in 2024. The third goal of the sequence provided Uhlmann, an Oregon, Wisconsin, native, with his first career multi-goal performance. He was able to shake off one Milwaukee Area Technical College (0-12) defender to deliver a bouncing kick from left of the goal and into the right corner. Uhlmann's fifth goal of the season give him eight for his career.

The advantage grew to 6-0 before halftime as freshman Riann Amini came off the bench to punch in two goals over the final 15 minutes. Another fancy move by Uhlmann as he attacked from the left side evaded a defender and drew another, leaving Amini open in the middle of the penalty box. After eluding one more Stormers defender, he went high to beat the keeper in the 30' for his fifth goal of the year. Goal number six was the result of a corner kick that saw a secondary pass from freshman Fabrizio Villar into the goalie box and Amini hold off his defender to execute a sideways bicycle kick.

The goals kept coming in the second half, starting with a pair of Hudson Nielsen scoring strikes. The Huntley, Illinois, product dribbled through the Stormers back line to terminate a goal from a very tight angle in the 49'. About eight minutes later it appeared MATC-Milwaukee had a steal of a lead pass from Tomas Garcia; however, Nielsen got it right back and was one-on-one with the GK, whom he beat with another high shot to the right corner for his ninth goal of 2024.

Garcia, a defender from Madison, Wisconsin, made it 9-0 with another long-range bomb, bending a successful kick from 40 yards out in the 69'. The 70' provided the final goal as Rodrigo Lasso set up João Forte for his team-leading tenth goal of the season. It also pushes Lasso's team-high assists total to eight, followed by four each from Uhlmann and Soberon-Chehade.

Madison College finished with a sizable 40-2 lead in total shots, a 22-1 advantage in shots on goal, and a 14-2 differential in corner kicks as they dominated possession of the ball.

Sophomore goalkeepers Enzo Guimarães from São Paulo, Brazil, and Ayden White from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, combined on the shutout win. White picked up the only save of the match by a WolfPack keeper.
