WolfPack blanked at rival Rock Valley in season's first loss

Madison College limited to four shots on goal

ROCKFORD, ILL. - A one-goal soccer match on Tuesday night turned into a lopsided four-goal decision as the Madison College women lost for the first time this season. The WolfPack fell behind early, and then allowed a trio of second half goals in less than six minutes en route to a 4-0 setback against Rock Valley College. The loss gave the Golden Eagles a narrow 9-8-1 advantage in the all-time series, and marked just the third RVC win against the Pack in the last dozen matches between the two Region 4 - and former conference - rivals.

Rock Valley College jumped ahead 1-0 as the game moved into its sixth minute, beating sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Thompson. The New Glarus, Wisconsin, native denied four more shots in the first half, while the WolfPack offense put two of their three shots before halftime on goal.

Still a one-goal differential into the second half, RVC pulled away with three goals in six minutes. A converted penalty kick in the 57' got the ball rolling, and it was followed up four minutes later with another scoring strike. Following the final shot on goal by Madison College, the Golden Eagles completed their scoring run with a successful attempt in the 63'.

The match ended with the home team owning a 12-5 lead in total shots and a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore Kierstin McHugh was tops with two shots on goal.

Thompson ended with five saves and four goals allowed.
