MILWAUKEE, WISC. - The offense and defense of the Madison College women's soccer team were at peak performance Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a dominant 6-0 win over Region 4 rival Bryant & Stratton College at Uihlein Soccer Park. Four different players scored for the WolfPack, led by two-goal performances from sophomores
Tazhia Aune and
Savi Pursley, to extend the team's current win streak to four consecutive matches.
Madison College was in full control of the soccer ball throughout the entire match, creating a ridiculous 28-0 lead in total shots and a 19-0 advantage in shots on goal. They also earned a 9-1 differential in corner kicks.
The in-state matchup saw the WolfPack jump out to a 2-0 in the first 16 minutes. Freshman forward
Camille Gilbertson, a Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, native, used a
Grace Huber pass to open the scoring in the 10'. Six minutes later, second year midfielder
Samantha Petroski made it a two-goal differential with a scoring strike off an assist from
Atziry Ocampo.
The lead began to swell throughout the second half as Aune and Pursley began their constant assault on the net. Aune, who entered with goals in each of the previous two matches, converted a Gilbertson pass to make it 3-0 in the 43'.
Pursley, a former Madison Memorial HS athlete, got in on the action in the 54' with her first goal of the day. Fellow second year
Kierstin McHugh had the assist, and the same duo combined in the 65' to make it a five-goal lead.
Aune, a native of Winona, Minnesota, completed the scoring in the 80' sending a Pursley pass to the back of the net.
The two-goal games for Pursley and Aune are the first of their career, and the duo now joins Gilbertson, Petroski, and McHugh atop the scoring list for the WolfPack with four goals on the season. McHugh, a Madison, Wisconsin, native, also boasts a team-high six assists and 14 total points.
First year midfielder
Logan Vollert was tops on the team with four shots on goal, while three others racked up three shots on goal.
Goalkeeper
Morgan Thompson enjoyed an extremely light work load en route to her third straight clean sheet. Thompson, combined with
Kialee Fox' shutout at MATC-Milwaukee, have combined for four consecutive wins without allowing a goal. Their current runs of scoreless soccer sits at 387 conecutive minutes.
The win narrows the all-time series to 4-2 in favor of the Bryant & Stratton College (0-5).
