PALATINE, ILL. - The start of Saturday's Region 4 men's soccer match at Harper College told one story, but the end told another. Madison College jumped out to a 1-0 lead very early, only to lose by a 2-1 final against the Hawks, who lead the all-time series by a 24-9-3 tally. The WolfPack is winless in their last five matches.
The fast start came courtesy of an incredible singular effort from freshman
Jamie Le Comte. The Dunedin, New Zealan, native, intercepted a pass near midfield in the 2', and as he dribbled to about 35 yards out, fired a lofting kick that sailed over the goalkeepers outstretched arms and into the net. The goal is the second for the midfielder in as many games.
Madison College clung to their one-goal lead for more than 30 minutes before the Hawks were able to even the score at 1-1 in the 33'. Harper College netted the game-winner in the 67'.
The WolfPack controlled the ball for most of the match, and finished with a 20-5 lead in total shots and a 12-5 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper
Phil McCloskey made three saves.
Freshman
Felipe Dewes was tops on the Pack with six total shots, while All-American sophomore
Gabe Voung put four of his five shots on goal.
