SUGAR GROVE, ILL. - A road trip to Waubonsee Community College on Friday produced two more wins for the Madison College baseball team, as they upended the Chiefs by scores of 9-5 and 7-1. The wins push the team's current win streak to seven straight, while also improving the WolfPack's win streak against WCC to six in a row en route to a 17-10 lead in the all-time series.
Game #1: #2 Madison College 9, Waubonsee Community College 5
The WolfPack got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly from
Gabe Roessler that scored
Carson Shepard. Waubonsee jumped the Pack with two second-inning runs that resulted from two errors and a hit by pitch.
Madison answered with three runs in the fourth to regain the advantage4-2. After a walk and a single started the frame, Roessler hit a grounder that was misplayed by the first baseman, allowing Shepard to tally his second run. Payton generated a run with a ground out and
Ryan Santi followed with a RBI single. The Chiefs, however, did not go away, rallying with two runs on four hits in the home half to even the score at 4-4.
The runs kept coming as the game moved to the fourth inning, where Roessler lifted the WolfPack back on top with a run-scoring double, and then came in to score along with
Clayton Slack on a WCC error for a 7-4 lead. Waubonsee got one run back in the fourth before Madison took an 8-5 advantage in the fifth with a RBI-single from
Dayton Rozinski-Hicks. The final run tally occurred in the sixth for the Pack as freshman

Roessler, native of Rockton, Illinois, registered two runs scored and two RBI with one hit on the day, while Shepard, a former Sun Prairie HS athlete, scored a career-best three runs and went 1 for 2 with three walks.
First year righthander Michael Carperter (1-0) keyed the pitching effort, tossing five innings and earning his first collegiate victory. The product of Hartland, Wisconsin, allowed five runs, three of which were earned, on eight hits and two walks. He struck out four before
Andres Kleinsek and
Allen Leitner each worked a scoreless inning.
Game #2: #2 Madison College 7, Waubonsee Community College 1
While game two did end with the WolfPack seventh consecutive win, it also halted an impressive offensive streak for Madison College, who had scored nine or more runs in nine straight outings. The nightcap did mirror the opener with a first inning run for the visitors, who used a
Charlie Marion double and a
Gabe Roessler single to take the early lead.
Waubonsee (7-14) tied the score in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly off freshman starter
Liam Stumpf. A four-run top of the third put the Pack on top and in control for good. Roessler's productive day continued with a leadoff triple to right, and he scored three batters later on a double to center by
Evan Iwinski.
Carter Stebane followed with a single to bring in
Clayton Slack, and a Chiefs error later scored Stebane for a 5-1 advantage.
The WolfPack tacked on a couple of insurance runs in the seventh with three consecutive two-out singles, the last two of which from
Trace Kirchberg and
Nick Nowak plated Iwinski and
Dayton Rozinski-Hicks, respectively.
