MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's soccer team settled for their first draw of the season Sunday night at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East, finishing in a 0-0 tie with Moraine Valley Community College in a Region 4 match. Sophomore goalkeeper
Morgan Thompson secured her fifth clean sheet of the season in helping the WolfPack, who were playing with a much depleted roster due to injury. Prior to opening kick, the team recognized an nine-member sophomore Class of 2023 that included
Tazhia Aune,
Mahala Frey,
Grace Huber,
Britney Lazo,
Kierstin McHugh,
Samantha Petroski,
Savi Pursley,
Morgan Thompson, and
Peyton Yaun.
Moraine Valley Community College (5-2-2) controlled the ball for most of the match as the WolfPack adjusted to play without any of their three captains. The Cyclones built a 10-3 lead in total shots and an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Thompson and the defense were up to the challenge as the native of New Glarus, Wisconsin, and returning all-region 'keeper made eight saves and kept MVCC out of the net.
Madison College saw freshman forward
Atziry Ocampo and second year midfielder
Britney Lazo each register a shot on goal. It was their fewest number of shots and shots on goal in a match this season.
The WolfPack still leads the all-time with the Cyclones series by a 1-0-1 record.
