WolfPack, Wolves trade goals and leads, settle for 3-3 tie

Freshman Bracken registers first career multi-goal game

MADISON, WISC. - Tuesday afternoon's Region 4 women's soccer match between Madison College and Joliet Junior College was an exchange of goals, ties, and leads until the full time ran out on a 3-3 draw at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. Freshman Delaney Bracken netted a career-high two goals and assisted on a go-ahead goal in the second half before the Wolves, ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III Poll, hit the equalizer less than two minutes later. The tie is the second in 18 all-time meetings, with the WolfPack owning a 12-4-2 lead.

Joliet Junior College (10-1-3) got the scoring started with a 13' goal to take a 1-0 lead, however, the advantage was short-lived with the Pack pulling even in the 19'. Madison College worked the ball up the left sideline following a Wolves turnover, and first year forward Atziry Ocampo made a pass to the Bracken in the middle of the penalty area. The Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, native spun on her defender and delivered a strike inside the right post.

The 1-1 tie changed to a 2-1 JJC lead in the 27', but the WolfPack managed to pull even in dramatic fashion. With time winding down in the first half, Madison College quickly transitioned from a Wolves turnover with first year midfielder Logan Vollert feeding Bracken as she streaked down the middle of the pitch. The forward then won a footrace with a JJC defender and put a shot past a charging goalkeeper as time expired for the 2-2 tie. Bracken boasts a season goal total of five with the two-goal performance, and would go on to finish with a career-best five total points.

Madison College secured their only lead of the match midway through the second half on Ocampo's fourth goal of the season. A 64' pass from Bracken split two defenders and led Ocampo inside the 18, where she made a light tap to her right to get by the goalkeeper and buried the shot into the open net.

The final goal of the day came less than three minutes later as the Wolves hit the equalizer in the 65' to earn the draw.

The Wolves registered a 13-8 differential in total shots and a 9-5 lead in shots on goal. They also earned a 7-5 margin in corner kicks. Ocampo and Bracken were the only WolfPack players with a shot, as the former had five shots with two on goal and the latter had three of each.

Second year goalkeeper Morgan Thompson made six saves and allowed three goals.
