Madison College losing streak reaches five after rough start against #15 Bobcats

Ripp matches career-high 23 points in lead up to N4C schedule

MADISON, WISC. - In the second game of a three-game homestand, the Madison College women's basketball team had their hands full Tuesday night as they dropped an 87-56 contest to in-state and Region 4 foe Bryant & Stratton College to extend their current losing streak to five games. Sophomore Taylor Ripp matched her career-best for points with 23 in a losing effort, which gives the 15th-ranked Bobcats a 3-2 lead in the brief all-time series.

Bryant & Stratton College (12-5) tallied the game's first seven points, and owned a double-digit advantage before the contest was even four minutes old. The differential peaked at 17 before the WolfPack scored six straight to make it 27-16 ahead of a late first quarter basket for BSC. Madison College struggled to shoot 2 for 13 and committed ten turnovers in the second quarter as the deficit grew to 48-24 at halftime. The Pack did string together an 11-6 run in the third quarter to get within 57-35, however, the Bobcats ended the period five straight points before advancing their lead to as high as 36 in the fourth quarter.

Ripp, a 5'9" guard from Lodi, Wisconsin, tallied 16 of her season-high 23 points in the first half. She finished 8 for 18 overall and 1 of 3 from long range, while converting 6 of 10 free throws. Ripp also led the Pack with seven rebounds, and now boasts two games with 20 or more points and 14 games with at least ten points.

Fellow second year guard Reyna Knox was the only other player to score in double-figures, posting 11 points on 4 of 13 shooting and a 3 for 4 night at the charity stripe. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native led the squad with five assists, while also tallying four rebounds and three steals. Knox has registered six games with double-digit points.

Madison College finished 20 of 57 (355) from the floor and 5 of 19 (26%) outside the arc, as well as 11 of 16 (69%) at the free throw line. Bryant & Stratton College secured a 41-23 edge in rebounding, which led to a 10-3 lead in second chance points and a 60-24 advantage in points in the paint. The Bobcats also built a 33-15 advantage in points off turnovers as the result of 23 WolfPack miscues.
