KANKAKEE, ILL. - A plethora of scoring in the second half Monday catapulted the Madison College men's soccer team to a resounding 6-0 victory at Kankakee Community College in a matchup of Region 4 programs. Freshmen
Adair Tlato and
Gabe Voung each tallied two goals as the WolfPack earned their second consecutive win for their best start to a season since 2017. The Pack is now 4-1 all-time against the Cavaliers.
The match actually remained scoreless for first 24 minutes before
Adair Tlato received a
Chase Quamme pass and converted the first career goal for the midfield/forward from Madison, Wisconsin. The score remained 1-0 at halftime, with WolfPack goalkeeper
Phil McCloskey picking up nine saves on ten Kankakee Community College (0-1) shots. Madison College had eight total shots and put four on goal.
The flood gates opened in the second half with three goals in the first 20 minutes.
Dominick Ramirez, another midfield and Madison, Wisconsin, native, tallied his first collegiate goal on a pass from
Sam Johnson in the 51'. Voung, a forward from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, made it 3-0 with scoring strike in the 58'. He followed his first career goal, which was assisted by
Jacob Howard, with his second of the day on a long pass from McCloskey for a 66' goal that gave the Pack a four-goal advantage.
Before the game went final, the Pack tacked on two more as
Richie Lima set up
Joao Mendonca for his first goal as a member of the WolfPack. That 86' goal was followed in the 90' by a second Tlato goal assisted by
Caeben Schomber to make it 6-0.
For the match, Kankakee posted an 18-17 edge in total shots and a 15-12 lead in shots on goal, however, McCloskey stood tall over the Cavaliers goalkeeper with 15 saves to just six for KCC. Tlato and Johnson each had three total shots, and Tlato was tops on the team with three shots on goal. He and Voung both amassed four total points, while Voung and Schomber each posted two shots on goal.

Madison College (2-0) is on the road against Wednesday, August 24 for another matchup with a Region 4 opponent when they kickoff against Kishwaukee College (0-0). In nine prior meetings with the Kougars, the WolfPack have never earned a win, however, they did pick up consecutive draws in 2006 and 2007. The teams have not played since 2013. The game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start in Malta, Illinois.
