WolfPack win streak snapped by rival Stormers

Tough shooting night nets lowest output in seven games

MILWAUKEE, WISC. - A season-high three-game win streak for the Madison College women's basketball team ended Thursday night with a 68-51 setback at rival Milwaukee Area Technical College in a North Central Community College Conference and Region 4 matchup held at Alverno College. The WolfPack, who were given a forfeit win for Tuesday's postponed contest with Harper College, struggled to find the basket and shot 29.7% overall en route to ending a four-game stretch of scoring better than 60 points. The result means a split in the regular season series for the second consecutive season, with the 'Pack still boasting a 75-15 advantage in the all-time series.

Milwaukee Area Technical College (11-10, 4-2) took an early 7-0 lead and needed just over six minutes to build a double-digit lead at 16-5. It remained an 11-point differential into the second quarter, where runs of 8-0 and 5-0 extended the differential to as high as 42-21 before an Olivia Marron closed the half with an interior bucket. The Stormers stepped on the gas again in the third quarter to expand the lead to 28 before Taylor Ripp buried a pair of three pointers as part of an 8-2 push to close the quarter. Madison College carried that momentum into winning the fourth quarter 15-10 and closed the gap to as close at 13.

Ripp, a guard from Lodi, Wisconsin, used her two long-range bombs and five free throws to produce a team-high 13 points. The freshman also had six rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Marron finished with nine point and five boards.
