HIGH FIVE: WolfPack move win streak to five with win at Carl Sandburg

Anzalone buries five 3-pointers, Ripp notches double-double ahead of Tuesday trip to Rochester CTC

GALESBURG, ILL. - The scoring totals keep rising and wins keep coming for the Madison College women's basketball team, who picked up an 80-76 road win over Carl Sandburg College in a Region contest on Saturday. Taylor Ripp's double-double and Kaylee Anzalone's long range shooting helped the WolfPack to their fifth consecutive win, which is their longest win streak since the 2018-19 season. The victory also evened the all-time series with the Chargers at 5-5.

Anzalone's first 3-pointer of the day started a 7-0 run for Madison College, which led 11-5 midway through the first quarter. The differential was down to one heading into the second quarter. Carl Sandburg College (2-4) took the lead before the half with an 11-1 surge, and continued to build to an eight-point advantage before the Pack closed to within 37-34 at the break.

A pair of Anzalone triples sandwiched around a Cora Hansen jumper to start the second half regained the lead for the WolfPack, and they never looked back. Despite the Chargers closing to within on a few occasions, Madison College outscored the home team by a 26-18 margin in the third quarter. The differential grew as high as nine in the fourth quarter, and the Pack held off CSC thanks to converting 3 for 4 free throws in the final minute.

Ripp, a guard from Lodi, Wisconsin, registered her second double-double of the season with 22 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The sophomore was 9 of 17 overall and 4 for 9 at the stripe. She also added two blocks, an assist, and a steal.

Anzalone, a native of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, became the fifth player since 2014 to make five 3-pointers in a single game en route to a career-high 21 points. She was 5 for 8 from distance as part of an 8 for 12 effort overall. The first year guard added three steals and two rebounds.

Freshman Jordanna Davis came off the bench to score 12 points, while Mikala Williams and Kayla Staveness each added nine points. Williams racked up a team-best three steals, and her seven assists trailed team leader Emma Paulson by one.
