MILWAUKEE, WISC. - A pair of canceled games last weekend extended the Madison College women's basketball team's semester break to a full month since its last game in December. The WolfPack showed some rust in their game as they lost an in-state matchup with Region 4 foe Bryant & Stratton College by a 130-41 final. The Bobcats, ranked #12 in the NJCAA Division II Poll, evened the all-time series at 2-2 after scoring the most points in a game against the 'Pack this season.
Bryant & Stratton scored the game's first seven points, and then used a 14-0 surge to take control of the contest early en route to a 37-12 lead after the first quarter. The matchup grew more lopsided when the Bobcats dominated the second and third quarter by scores of 32-6 and 33-7, respectively. Madison College allowed the home team to tally 20 consecutive points in the second quarter. The WolfPack enjoyed their best quarter over the final ten minutes, producing 16 points.
Madison College played only five players in the game, and we led offensively by freshman
Taylor Ripp's career-high 18 points. The freshman from Lodi, Wisconsin, made 8 of 17 shots, including the team's only two 3-pointers. She also had six rebounds.
No other player reached double-figures, however, sophomore
Olivia Marron posted nine points and six rebounds, while first year guard
Laurissa Pickel was tops with seven rebounds to go along with four points.
Brianna Hendricks dished out a team-high four assists.
The WolfPack grabbed 12 fewer rebounds and committed 26 more turnovers. They finished 16 for 56 overall and 2 of 19 from long range.
