Madison College makes second day jump to finish 10th at Edgewood College Fall Classic

Freshmen Lycke & Busick place in top 40 ahead of trip to Illinois on Tuesday

JANESVILLE, WISC. - Madison College was the only junior college team competing at the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday at Glen Erin Golf Club, and the WolfPack used a 14-shot improvement from day one to day two to finish in tenth place out of 17 teams. The 'Pack posted a 327 team score following the opening 18 holes and was tied for 12th overall, but the youngest team in the field returned to card a 313 and grab tenth place in the final standings with a 640 total. Madison College finished eight shots back of Marian University and one stroke better than Carroll University and Concordia-Wisconsin. Madison College was tied for the third biggest improvement over the two rounds.

Freshman Kaleb Lycke played steady golf throughout and finished alone in 37th with a 158 (+16). The native of La Crosse, Wisconsin, signed off on a nine-over par 80 to begin the weekend, and followed with a seven-over 78. Hot on his heels was teammate Ben Busick with a 159 (+17) to tie for 38th overall. Busick, a former DePere HS athlete, carded a team-best six-over-par 77 on Saturday after making his collegiate debut with an 11-over 82.

Verona, Wisconsin, native Jake Rebholz registered the third best score of the weekend for the WolfPack with a 161 (+19) and a tie for 45th. The freshman enjoyed rounds of ten-over 81 and nine-over 80, the last of which tied for his best 18-hole score of the season. First year player Matt Paulson also made his collegiate debut and struggled to an opening round 85 (+14). The North Prairie, Wisconsin, put together the team's biggest improvement with a seven-shot drop to seven-over-par 78 and a tie for 51st overall at 163 (+21).

Madison College also received a 165 (+23) from freshman Nicholas Kipp. He was part of a tie for 58th overall after rounds of 84 (+13) and ten-over 81, the last of which established a new season-best. Sophomore Ryen Ryba competed as an individual for the WolfPack, and signed off on the team's only sub-80 round on Friday with a career-best seven-over-par 78. He followed with an 88 (+17) to register a two-day total of 166 (+24) and tie for 63rd.

Host Edgewood College won the tournament with a team score of 593, which included a 153 from former WolfPack golfer Ryan Beck. The tournament medalist at 142 was Concordia-Wisconsin senior Jordan Carlton, who played for coach Glenn Eichstedt during his high school days at Kewaskum HS.
