COON RAPIDS, MINN. - Two goals in a ten-minute stretch of the second half rallied the Madison College men's soccer team for a 3-2 road win Monday against Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Sophomore
Jonas Luskey Sanders continued his productive play with the game-winning goal, which sent the WolfPack to a 2-1-1 lead in the all-time series with the Golden Rams.
The match opened with a quick strike from Madison College when freshman
Isaak Cordova took a
Matthew Ruggiero assist and sent it to the back of the net just over two minutes in. The forward has scored a goal in five of the last six matches, amassing six goals during that stretch. The WolfPack maintained a one-goal advantage for nearly the entire rest of the first half until Anoka-Ramsey Community College (1-1-1) pulled even in the 42'.
The Golden Rams carried the momentum from that goal into the start of the second half, and generated another scoring strike in the 48'. The match turned over a ten-minute section that started with the equalizer goal in the 61' from sophomore
Jheison Garcia. Once again Ruggiero, a former Madison West HS athlete, delivered the perfect pass to set up his former high school teammate for the first goal of his career after 28 games played.
Knotted up at two, Madison College continued to push forward and eventually struck again with the game-winner, and it was Luskey Sanders who provided big kick. The midfielder/forward from Madison, Wisconsin, tallied his tenth goal of on the year. He has found the net in five of the last seven matches.
Second year goalkeeper
Sebastian Varela made six saves and allowed just two goals in the win. Madison College held slight advantages in total shots (18-17) and shots on goal (9-8).

Madison College (7-2) remains on the road Wednesday, September 29 with a match at Region 4 foe College of DuPage (4-2). The two teams have not played since 2011, and the Chaparrals own a small 2-0-1 lead in the all-time series. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
