NEW GLARUS, WISC. - One day before the start of the Ryder Cup being played in Wisconsin, the Madison College golf team was crowned champions of a the inaugural Match Play at the Chalet, a unique match play-style event hosted by Clarke University at
Edelweiss Chalet Country Club. The tournament victory is the first this season for the WolfPack.
Madison College sent head-to-head with fellow junior college Southwest Tech, while four-year programs Clarke University and Viterbo University squared off. The WolfPack amassed a total of 55 points to defeat Southwest Tech by 20. The other match saw the Pride narrowly get past the V-hawks by a 46-44 margin. As a result of having the highest team total, Madison College was awarded the team trophy as match play champs.
The biggest contributor to the Madison College victory was freshman
Tyler Dahl, with the Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, native dominating his opponent by a score of 13.5 to 4.5. A pair of WolfPack players, sophomore
Ryen Ryba and freshman
Jake Rebholz, earned wins of 11 to 7. For Rebholz, the event marked a return to the course he called home during his prep career at Verona Area HS.
Second year player
AJ Gray won his match 10.5 to 7.5 despite giving up points on two of the last three holes, while
Kaleb Lycke, a freshman from La Crosse, Wisconsin, was unable to hold on to a three point lead with three holes to play and finished all square.Â
Freshman
Nicholas Kipp returned from a two week hiatus to compete as an individual. The native of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, played in a threesome against two players from Clarke and generated 6.5 points to finish in between their other two.

Madison College will participate in the Region 4 Classic on Friday, October 1. It will give the WolfPack their first look at PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois, the site of the 2020-21 Region 4 Division II & III Tournaments. The Division III portion will be played over three days in mid-May. Tee times are set to begin at noon.Â
