ROCKFORD, ILL. - The number one ranked team in the
NJCAA Division III Poll proved to be too much for the Madison College women's volleyball team Tuesday night in a 3-0 win for Rock Valley College in a North Central Community College Conference match. The WolfPack hung tough in the first two sets before succumbing to the Golden Eagles, 25-21, 25-20, 25-9.
The visiting WolfPack put their best foot forward in the opening set, recording 14 kills and hitting at a .212 attack efficiency. They would finish the match with 25 kills and an attack percentage of .069. Madison College also show plenty of fight defensively, tracking down 54 digs to make Rock Valley College (15-5, 2-0) earn every point.
Sophomores
Jadyn Holman and
Abigail Lewis paced the WolfPack offense with seven kills each, while freshman
Maya Adams registered the team's top hitting percentage at .400 with five kills.
Abby Steinhauer keyed the defensive effort with a team-high 14 digs and also served up a pair of aces.
Madison College has dropped six of the last eight meetings, including three straight, to RVC and trail in the all-time series by a 42-28-1 margin.

Madison College (4-8, 0-2) plays the last of it's 13 consecutive matches away from home to start the season on Thursday, September 16 when it travels to Bryant & Stratton College (2-4). In their short history as in-state and Region 4 foes, the WolfPack boasts a 2-1, however, the Bobcats swept the most recent match in 2019. First serve is at 7:00 p.m. at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
