ROCHESTER, MINN. - The Madison College women's soccer team executed all facets of their game plan Friday and earned a 2-0 season-opening win at Rochester Community & Technical College. The WolfPack, who are receiving votes in the
NJCAA Division III Preseason Poll, improved their win streak to seven straight in season opening games.
Madison College broke a scoreless game in the 27' when returning NJCAA All-American
Angelina Perez punched a kick past the Yellowjackets goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. The goal is the ninth career score for the sophomore forward/midfielder from Madison, Wisconsin. Perez led the team with four shots on goal.
The score remained 1-0 into the second half until freshman
Alexis Kulow converted a pass from second year forward/midfielder
Elizabeth Foye. The scoring strike in the 60' was the first career goal for the midfielder from DeForest, Wisconsin.
While the Madison College offense was generating nine shots on goal and 13 shots total, the defense did it's part by limiting Rochester CTC (0-1) to just five total shots. First year goalkeeper and former DeForest Area HS athlete
Hope McFarlin claimed three saves en route to her first career win and shutout.
Friday's match marked their first-ever meeting between the two programs.
