PALATINE, ILL. - Playing on the road for the first time in the Spring 2021 season, the Madison College men's soccer team came up one goal short in a key North Central Community College Conference match at Harper College on Wednesday. The WolfPack dropped a 2-1 contest to the 6th-ranked Hawks.
Harper College (3-0, 3-0) tallied two goals in the first 33 minutes of the match, starting with a successful kick in the 18'. They added another 15 minutes later and carried the 2-0 lead well into the second half.
The WolfPack battled to within a goal when sophomore
Samuka Toure took a pass from freshman
Edwardo Serrano Colorado and beat the Hawks' goalkeeper to net his second goal of the season. Madison College continued to press the offensive end for the remainder of the match, however, they were unable to put another shot on goal.
Madison College outshot the Hawks by an 18-13 margin overall, with both teams posting six shots on goal. Toure,
Jonas Luskey Sanders, and
Dhananjai Subba were each credited with two shots on goal. Sophomore 'keeper
Sebastian Varela registered four saves.
Harper College now boasts a 19-8-1 record in the all-time series with the 'Pack, including wins in seven straight matches. The two teams will play again on Friday, May 7 at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East.

Madison College (1-2-1, 1-2-0) remains on the road for yet another N4C match on Friday, April 23 against Joliet Junior College (0-3). The WolfPack defeated the Wolves 2-1 in overtime to open the season on April 7, and have now picked up a win or tie in seven straight matches. JJC holds a narrow 12-11-4 in the all-time series. Kickoff in Joliet, Illinois, is slated for 4:00 p.m.
