Season-high four goals lifts WolfPack to season sweep of Joliet

Sophomore Jonas Luskey Sanders posts three points in first road win of season

JOLIET, ILL. - A season-high burst of goals gave the Madison College men's soccer team its first road win of the season with a 4-2 victory over Joliet Junior College in a North Central Community College Conference match Friday. The win gives the WolfPack a season sweep of its two meetings with the Wolves, as well as a win or a tie in each of the last eight get-togethers.

The two N4C foes spent the first 25 minutes feeling each other out before Madison College was finally able to break through with a 27' goal from freshman Dhananjai Subba. The unassisted scoring strike is the third of the season for the Madison, Wisconsin, native. Right before the final horn sounded on the first half, the WolfPack added to their lead with another unassisted goal from sophomore Jonas Luskey Sanders. The goal came in the 45' for the former Madison East HS athlete, and was his first of the season and third of his career.

The second half saw Joliet Junior College (0-4, 0-4) trim the 'Pack lead in half with a goal in the 60', however, the visitors responded five minutes later later when Luskey Sanders set up sophomore Samuka Toure for what proved to be the game-winning goal, as well as his third goal of the season. A final insurance goal came in the 81' as freshman Tugbe Sulureh beat the JJC goalkeeper to net his first collegiate goal. The Wolves were able to get within 4-2 with a goal in the 83'.

Second year goalkeeper Sebastian Varela made three saves and allowed just two goals. Each team registered 11 total shots, with Madison College boasting a slim 6-5 edge in shots on goal.

The win brings the all-time series record to an even 12-12-4.
